Lucia Cleveland started The Spice Hunter in a spare bedroom in her home on the Central Coast of California in 1980. She first became interested in spices while using them to enhance the flavor of the bland macaroni cheese diet she endured wile on backpacking trips. Always experimenting, Lucia sought to create authentic blends and items that the average American might never have tried. Featuring a recipe on each jar of spices was one way TheSpice Hunter has encouraged spice enthusiasts to experiment with new flavors and cuisines. In 2019, Falfurrias Capital Partners of North Carolina acquired The Spice Hunter and its parent company. The new owners are firm believers in The Spice Hunter’s roots as a globally inspired, premium-quality spicecompany and are eager to continue the brand’s legacy. Even with all the change over the years, the spirit of the original Spice Hunter lives on, as Lucia Cleveland remains a friend to the brand that she created all those years ago in her spare bedroom.
